Andrew Fimbo Mukasa is a retired footballer who holds the league
record of most goals scored in a single league season (45 in 1999).
He went on to feature for S.C Villa, Express FC and URA FC in the top
flight as well as the National Football Team the Uganda Cranes. During the
height of his career Fimbo was challenged with mental illness that ended his
time playing professionally. Today Andrew lives in abject poverty together
with his mother and grandmother....
Adsparko Communications is running a campaign to build him a house as one of
the activities we do for Corporate Social Responsibility. In partnership with
Vision Group, FUFA and Mental Health Uganda,we are running the UG4Fimbo campaign
to raise 100 million shillings which will enable Andrew to own a home and retire
peacefully.
Mental health continues to become a growing concern in Uganda. A recent report
from the Ministry of Health states that about 14 million Ugandans are living with
mental illness. We hope to use this campaign to sensitize and create awareness
on how to handle mental illnesses like depression which affect not only the
sports fraternity but Uganda at large.
